Kenya’s sole female golf professional, Bhavi Shah, says she is putting in the work to improve her game despite the period of setbacks and cancelled games for sportsmen and women.

The Nyali-based pro was joined by four amateurs at the 2019 Magical Kenya Open Championship which attracted over 100 players from across six continents.

“After the magical event I was planning to get back in to competitive golf and play some few events to improve on what I learnt; my plan was to play outside the country but I have not been able to travel.

“There haven’t been any competitive golf and now this has given me a chance to work on a few things on the game,” she said.

Now training at home under the instructions of her coach, the golfer says the disruption of her sport might be a blessing in disguise.

“It’s a little bit of a setback in terms of rhythm because I had just gotten into the rhythm of training and playing again but it has given me more time to work on my game although not competitively but on practice,” she added.

She however plans on taking part in a few international events when the calendar resumes but financial restrictions might be a hindrance.

“In July there will be a few events in the United Kingdom so if I am able to travel I do plan on playing one or two events but for now I am just focusing on fitness training and practicing because we are a little bit lucky that we are allowed to do that although by being yourself caddie,” she ascertained

Bhavi, finished her challenge at the Magical Kenya Open in 98th position with a score of 23-over par 167 after two rounds.
