Joshua Ariko, Eldoret Falcon’s head coach says he has in more than three occasions  contemplated resigning in the wake of a biting  financial crunch bedeviling the women league outfit.

Ariko looked unruffled on the touchline last weekend as his side fell 5-0 to Soccer Queens at the Ruiru grounds, noting that he, at some point, had made up his mind because it is disheartening watching his players suffer as they fight for an uncertain future.

According to the coach, the cries from his players who continually hold onto the hope of  kept him in the job.

“ I had decided to quit this job because these girls are suffering; fighting for a future that is wavering.  However the girls approached me and said that the game is the only springboard they have to showcase their talents as they work on building a bright future for themselves. Therefore, we decided to keep on pushing to our limits hoping that things will get better,” he moaned.

Missed matches have been the norm in the Women Premier League (WPL) due to financial setbacks and according to coach Ariko, the Saturday encounter would not have been any different had they not hitched a ride to the city from the Trans Nzoia Falcons.

“We were supposed to hand a walk over in this match were it not for our neighbours Trans Nzoia Falcons who offered us a ride in their bus which also served as our bedroom at night.”

Eldoret Falcons are now placed 15th on the WPL league table having registered four losses and a draw out of the five matches they have played so far.
