Sharks crush All Stars to leapfrog Nakumatt FC in the NSL

Kariobangi Sharks forced Nakumatt FC to drop down to fourth in the National Super League (NSL) standings after a Ibrahim Kitawi inspired them to crush Nakuru All Stars 3-0 on Sunday to keep their promotion chase on course.

Sharks began the game in a high tempo and they did not have to wait for long to get on the score sheet as Ovela Ochieng broke the deadlock in the eighth minute after finishing a well executed team move.

The hosts had a perfect chance to stretch their lead but this time Ovela’s shot was smothered by City Stars Keeper Lule Martin in the 24th minute.

After the break a cross from Kitawi was converted by defender Eric Juma to double the advantage in the 48th before the former put the result beyond doubt with his seventh goal of the season seven minutes later.

All Stars wasted their best chance in the 64th when midfielder Anthony Ng’anga found the opportunity to pull one back but his effort thundered off the crossbar.

Stars Coach Nick Yakhama brought in striker Elvis Rupia who has seven goals this season for Ng’anga but it was too late for the Nakuru based team.

Sharks moved up to third on 59 points after 30 games ahead on goal difference from the retailers who have a game in hand.
