Sharks focus on Bandari final as Everton clash looms

Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya has said the team’s focus is on defending the FKF Shield title as their showdown with English Premier League club Everton looms.

Sharks wrapped up their Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season with an emphatic 4-0 demolition of Vihiga United on Wednesday and face Bandari in the Shield final on Saturday.

They finished their KPL campaign ranked eighth, their worst ever finish since earning top flight promotion in 2016, with Muluya attributing fixtures congestion for their drop.

“As you can see this season we have not finished in a very good position according to our ability because unlike last season when we had one match per week we’ve had as much as four this term.

“Right now I want to focus on the forthcoming match against Bandari because we really want to defend the title,” Muluya said.

Bandari and Sharks met in the Super Cup final in January where the former’s victory earned them the right to play Everton in an exhibition match in Nairobi on July 7.
