Kenyan Premier League (KPL) newbies Kariobangi Sharks finally registered their first win in the topflight after sinking hosts Nzoia Sugar 2-0 at the Sudi Stadium on Sunday.

The William Muluya-coached side had lost all their opening three fixtures, but Timothy Omwega and Patillah Omoto’s goals in the fourth and 67th minutes marked the end of that losing streak and subsequently meant a first defeat for Nzoia.

It was the second time the visitors prevailed on this ground where Nzoia have made a fortress, with Sharks inflicting them their only loss during last season’s National Super League (NSL) campaign.

The setback saw the Sugar Millers slide down to 14th on the 18-team log, as Sharks moved one place up to 17th.

Elsewhere in Kisumu, Chemelil Sugar also condemned AFC Leopards to their first defeat with John Mwita and veteran midfielder Hillary Echesa bagging a goal each in the 2-0 victory.

Ingwe lacked creativity in the attack department with the absence of the injured Paul Kiongera all too noticeable.

In Thika, there was no reprieve for newcomers Zoo Kericho FC who suffered a 1-0 loss to hosts Thika United, their fourth straight defeat leaving them at the bottom and the only club yet to earn a point.

Joel Tata scored the only goal in the 17th, sending James Nandwa’s coached side to the mid-table with six points.
In Afraha, Nakuru, Ulinzi Stars silenced 10-man Bandari 2-1, in clash that saw goalkeeper Wilson Obungu given marching orders in the 85th.

Geoffrey Kokoyo opened the score a minute into the match before Noah Abich restored parity in just before halftime from the spot.

Enosh Ochieng finished the business for Benjamin Nyangweso charges in the 75th minute, handing Paul Nkata’ s Dockers their maiden loss of the league in 2017 season.

In other matches, Posta Rangers leapt to second with a 1-0 win over Henry Omino’s Western Stima, while holders Tusker FC were held to a 2-2 draw by a resurgent Sofapaka.
