Other players who have renewed their contracts for the next two years are Owiti Jaffery and Yusuf Mainge with Shikanda optimistic the three will help steer Leopards ship.

“At last he is now settled and I’m hopeful he will be an integral part of the team by helping us register good results. We have renewed contracts of three players including Jaffery Owiti and Yusuf Mainge and I hope they will settle down and play soccer,” said Shikanda.

The chairman has also reassured head coach Antony ‘Modo’ Kimani of his full support regardless of the back-to-back defeats at the hands of Western Stima and Wazito in the 2020-2021 FKF Premier League which has condemned them to position five after five rounds.

“We have confidence in him (coach Antony Kimani) and we are fully promising to support him. We are sure that the team we have put together is going to be a force to reckon with but still patience is needed with the boys,” said the former Leopards player.

Kimani was promoted to the hot seat last month but on an interim basis thanks to the resignation of Czech Republican Tomas Trucha and is now being helped by Leopards football operations manager Tom Juma and goalkeepers trainer Lawrence Webo.

Lifting the league trophy this season is key to the Shikanda-led executive who will be seeking a second term next year.

Leopards next clash with log leaders KCB on Sunday and would be looking to end the Bankers’ perfect run as they look to restore lost glory.
