Shujaa Dubai fixtures and playing time

Kenya national rugby 7’s team will kick off this year’s IRB world rugby series season in Dubai against Singapore 7’s champions Canada at 9.30 am on Friday, December 1, 2017.

The two teams last met earlier this year in the Singapore 7’s Canada defeating head coach Innocent Simiyu men 10-5 in April where they went ahead to win the series.

The last time Kenya defeated Canada was in the opener of the 2016-2017 season in Dubai where they won 22-14 in December 3, 2016.

Shujaa will play their second pool match against defending series champions South Africa at 1.36 pm according to the fixtures released by World Rugby.

Their last pool match will be against neighbors Uganda to be played at 6.31 pm after taking a break of 2 hours 40 minutes.

Coach Simiyu will expect the experienced players of the likes of Willy Ambaka, Dennis Ombachi and Kenya’s top try scorer Collins Injera to spear his team to the quarters.

Leading Kenya’s board with 244 tries Injera looks forward for a positive start and believes everything will go well as planned by the technical bench.

Other players expected to shine includes new captain Oscar Ayodi from Menengai Homeboys who replaces injured Andrew Amonde as skipper together with forwards Dan Sikuta and Frank Wanyama from Kabras Sugar and Kenya Harlequins respectively.

Ayodi believes that they will attain their target this season.

“We have always been targeting 100 points which we have never attained so we want to hit it first before we can aim higher,” Ayodi said.

This will be Simiyu’s second season in charge of Shujaa after finishing 12th last season with 64 points.
