Shujaa have a taste of Nevada ahead of Las Vegas Sevens

The national sevens team Shujaa enjoyed a light feel of life in Nevada after arriving safely in the US state ahead of their Las Vegas and Vancouver Sevens tours.

The country’s all-time leading HSBC World Series try-scorer Collins Injera and Homeboyz captain Jeff Oluoch were taken for a helicopter ride across Vegas before joining teammates at the Elise L. Wolff Elementary School.

At the institution, the Shujaa mingled freely with pupils with the bonding session culminating in a motivational forum where they encouraged them to pursue their dreams.

Later, the team held a light training session with head coach Innocent Simiyu receiving a squad boost after Mwmba RFC duo Injera and Billy Odhiambo were declared fit for the upcoming legs.

Odhiambo who has yet to play in any circuit this season could have his fitness level tested against France on Saturday morning. The national team is pooled alongside the French, in-form Fiji big boys Russia.

Shujaa start their campaign against France at 2.44am (EAT) on Saturday before playing Russia at 5.45am. Their final group match will be against Fiji at 11.36pm.

The Kenyans will hope to collect 10 or more points in each leg, adding to the 35 they have accumulated from the opening four (Dubai, Cape Town, Sydney and Hamilton).
