Shujaa to face Wales in Challenge Trophy after defeat to France

Poor Kenya rugby team Shujaa were on Saturday relegated to the Challenge Trophy after losing 40-17 to France in their third Pool B match in the ongoing HSBC World Sevens Series at the Spotless Stadium, Sydney.

France scored six tries, converting five, against Paul Murunga’s three tries of which only one was converted.

Stephen Parez got France up and running, after he was unleashed by Manuel Dall’igna on the inside as he drew in two Kenyan defenders to score a converted try.

But Kenya hit back instantly, Brian Wahinya stepping inside the French defence and having too much pace to be stopped to score an unconverted try to make it 5-7.

Kenya led after Daniel Taabu took hold of a kick over the top, and when they had to recycle it, Vincent Onyala scored the try with Shujaa looking for their first win of the day.

Stephen Perez was too quick as he broke down on the left, Rivo converting his try to lead by two points.

It was a hat-trick for Stephan Parez after he wasn’t spotted by the Kenyan defence as he sliced through it.

Paulin Riva went his way past three defenders helping France to take control.

Parez continued with his sensational play adding onto another try to make it four  in the same match, giving France an authoritative lead at 35-12.

Nisie Huyard received a sublime pass from Stephen Parez, breaking the defensive line to give France their sixth try.

Kenya got the final score, when Mark Ruga ran around the outside of the defence, but they still went down 40-17.

Shujaa now drops to challenge Trophy quarter final, where they`ll battle it out with Wales.
