Simba 15s flight to Brazil delayed to Tuesday

The national rugby 15s Simbas will now depart Tuesday after their initial plan to leave the country for Brazil on Monday night was re-scheduled due to a flight hitch.

The team congregated at the Kenya Rugby Union grounds at 6pm local time (+3GMT) ahead of their expected departure but it emerged that their flight itinerary had not been firmed up.

They were expected to travel for four hours to Dubai before connecting for another 14-hour flight to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Simbas who will face the South American side on Friday would then connect to the capital Brasilia, a 1 hour and 50 minutes flight before heading to their final destination in Macapa, north of the Country.

The flight from Brasilia, the administrative capital of the football-mad country and the 2016 Olympic games hosts would take at least three hours to Macapa which is located near the famous Amazon river.

Earlier, head coach Jerome Paarwater named his travelling squad where Samson Onsumu was given his maiden call up.
