Simba roar past Somalians Dakadaha in CECAFA

Simba SC showed little mercy hammering Dakadaha of Somalia 4-0 in a lop-sided duel at the Uhuru Stadium here in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, as the Tanzanian powerhouse laid an early intent of challenging for the crown.

Before a partisan crowd, The Reds opened their account through Rashid Kaheza in the 18th minute after he was put clear in the box, and he made no mistake, beautifully sending the ball rolling into the net.

Abdul Juma also put his name on the score-sheet at the stroke of half time to ensure his side assumed a healthy lead at the break.

The show however belonged to Adam Salamba who bagged a brace in the 23rd and 76th minute to all but kill off the game in the second half as the Somalians found the host club witty, while the pace on the wings proved too much to handle.

At the Uhuru Stadium, Simba showed their desire, begining the match with a high pace and never got their foot off the gas pedal.

Ivorian Serge Wawa had the early chance of putting the home side ahead in the 14th minute but his drive went wide from long range.

With the win, Simba have a high chance of advancing to the quarters even as they prepare for a potentially group defining game with APR of Rwanda on Monday.

Meanwhile, Simba fans are over the moon after acquiring the services of former Gor Mahia man Meddie Kagere.

One of the fans, Juma Mohamed, a bodaboda operator, who spoke to Citizen Digital in the wake of his team’s heroics said: “Huyo Kagere na Kahta (Francis) ndio nguzo wa Gor. Tukwishamsamjili Kahata tutakuwa imara. (Kagere and Kahata are the cornerstones of Gor, once we sign Kahata we’ll be home and dry),”he growled proudly.
