Simiyu assures each Safland Sevens call-up of playing time
Kenya Sevens Coach Innocent ‘Namcos’ Simiyu will hand each player selected to travel Safland Sevens International tournament a chance to play as he seeks to establish his squad for the opening legs of the HSBC World Series in December.
Team Manager Erick Ogweno has said that all the fifteen players currently camping in Namibia will have a role to play when the Shujaa take on hosts Namibia, Germany and South Africa All Stars on Saturday in Swakopmund.
Simiyu had named a 16-man squad for the invitational the tournament but Oscar Ouma pulled out due to illness.
“The tournament rules at this tournament allow us to declare teams of 12 per game hence the decision to give everyone who traveled an opportunity to play,” Simiyu told Kenya Rugby on Thursday morning.
The Shujaa start their fixtures against Namibia, S.A All Stars and Germany on day one before playing defending champions South Africa in their final pool match on Sunday morning ahead of the knockouts.
The top four teams in each section at the close of play in their respective sections will advance to the cup quarterfinals on Sunday with the bottom placed teams in each pool contesting for the shield.
