Smith made ICC Cricketer of the Year

Steve Smith has become the fourth Australian awarded the coveted Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy after being named as the ICC Cricketer of the Year 2015.

Smith follows in the footsteps of compatriots Ricking Ponting, Mitchell Johnson, and Michael Clarke in lifting the coveted trophy.

The Australia captain was also named ICC Test Cricketer of the Year, becoming the seventh man to bag the two prizes in the same year.

The 26-year-old finished the year as the leading run-scorer in Tests with 1,734 runs in 25 innings, including seven centuries and six half-centuries.

It wasn’t all smiles for Smith though, with the Australian admitting that his biggest regret of the year was to not claim an away Ashes victory over England.
