Sofapaka boss Kalekwa confident of landing Mohamed after good offer

Sofapaka President Elly Kalekwa says they’ve tabled a ‘good offer’ to lure former Gor Mahia captain and Kenyan international Musa Mohamed, confident they will win his signature.

Mohamed is free to listen to offers having parted ways with Nkana FC of Zambia.

“We have made our first approach to sign Mohammed (Musa), I held a meeting with him last week and he told us he needs some time to scrutinize what we are offering, so we are waiting for him to get back.

“He told us he does not want to rush into signing a deal before he goes through it and we gave him time to go and look at it, it is a good offer which fits him,” he said. “I cannot reveal further details until he puts pen to paper,” Kalekwa told Citizen Digital.

Mohammed helped K`Ogalo to five Kenyan Premier League (KPL) titles before he left for Nkana FC of Zambia where his contract ended in June.

At Nkana, the central defender featured alongside other Kenyan stars, including former AFC Leopards captain Duncan Otieno, former Gor Mahia captain Harun Shakava and Duke Abuya, who joined in January 2020.

Mohammed played for Gor Mahia from 2010 to 2017 before moving to Albania for a short stint with KF Tirana.

He returned home after he ended his contract with the European club before moving to Zambia in 2018.

Tanzanian giants Young Africans (Yanga SC) are among the clubs keen to sign the defender.

The Batoto Ba Mungu are set to sign five more players while six players will leave to create room for the new arrivals.
