Sofapaka coach Baraza impressed by new signings

Sofapaka head coach John Baraza says he has been impressed by how quickly the FKF Premier League club’s new signings have integrated and impacted performances of the team.

Sofapaka were actively involved in the transfer market, signing the likes of Lawrence Juma from Gor mahia FC, former KCB defender Michael Kibwage and veteran striker Paul Kiongera.

While Baraza says he never doubted the quality of his new stars, he says he never expected they would hit the ground running as they have done.

“The signings that we brought in are very dedicated and are blending well with the rest of the team; there is a healthy competition among them. We didn’t have the best start to our season but there’s a lot of improvement,” Baraza said.

The 2009 champions lost 1-0 to Bandari FC in their season opener but bounced back with a 3-1 win against Western Stima last weekend.

Baraza’s charges have a tricky fixture in their next assignment on Sunday against AFC leopards who have won both of their first two matches of the season.

“Igwe and KCB seem to be the form team in the league, we are facing a very good side but as a team we will always aim for three points.”
