Sofapaka FC complete Pistone Mutamba capture

Striker Pistone Mutamba has become the first mid-season signing for Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Sofapaka FC after his capture from Wazito FC was confirmed on Friday.

Sofapaka FC have reportedly paid KSh500,000 for the towering Kenyan international, adding more firepower to their star-studded attacking line.

Mutamba, who is on away on international with the Harambee Stars, has been the leading light for KPL newcomers Wazito with six league goals to his name thus far.

The move completes a remarkable week for the 21-year-old who scored the winning goal for Kenya against Equatorial Guinea in Machakos just five days ago.

“Three years and a half playing for Wazito was one of the best moments, it was a massive journey for sure playing from the lower league until gaining promotion to topflight league.

“That was a dream come true… I wish Wazito family all the very best, much love,” Mutamba told wazito-fc.com.

His immediate former coach Frank Ouna asserted the club let him go in order for him to fulfil his desire to grow and hoped to see the player ply his trade abroad ‘in a year or two’.

“We feel this is the right time and opportunity for him to embrace the next challenge. We wish him all the best. Back home we will plan how to sign players and plan his absence,” he said.

Mutamba will battle for a place in the starting line-up with seasoned KPL attackers including Stephen Waruru, Umaru Kasumba, Kepha Aswani as well as youngster Ezekiel Okare who has struggled to earn playtime following the arrival of the trio.
