Sofapaka held as Leopards toil to reach quarters

Sofapaka and Nairobi City Stars played to a 1-1 draw in their second Group C match of the ongoing Kenyan Premier League Under-20 championships played at Nairobi’s Camp Toyoyo Grounds on Tuesday.

Sammy Mutira scored just before the half time break to give Sofapaka the lead, powering in a header from Ibrahim Mao’s cross.

City Stars pulled level almost instantly after the restart through substitute Fahim Mahima to leave both sides level on two points following earlier draws in their opening fixtures.

Sofapaka had earlier on Sunday played to another one all draw against Bandari while City Stars battled to a 2-2 draw against Ushuru FC.

Ushuru and Bandari lock horns later in the day in another group fixture as the battle to secure quarterfinals spot continues.

In an earlier fixture, Austine Odhiambo notched a brace for AFC Leopards in their dramatic 3-2 victory over Thika United as his side surged into the last eight.

Simon Mururi and Francis Muturi netted for Thika and with the game poised at 2-2, Vincent Oburu individual brilliance in the 68th ensured the junior Ingwe sealed a hard-earned three points.
