Sofapaka pip Chemelil as Nakumatt rout poor Wazito

Sofapaka jumped to position three on the Kenyan Premier League table after a 1-0 win over Chemelil Sugar in a league match played on Wednesday at Narok Stadium.

The win hauled their points tally to 31, jumping from position four. They are tied with second placed Mathare United (also 31) who drew 2-2 with Nzoia United at the Sudi Stadium.

In Narok, Yusuf Mohammed scored the lone goal in 38 minute to hand the Batoto ba Mungu the victory while at Sudi Stadium, Elvis Rupia grabbed a brace in 4th and 59th minutes consecutively while Samuel Olwande and Clifford Alwanga scored for Mathare.

Elsewhere, Posta Rangers beat Thika United 1-0 with Titus Achesa scoring the goal while Nakumatt thumped Wazito 3-0 with Clinton Kisiavuki, Brian Nyakan and Timmonah Wanyonyi on target.

Nzoia were forced to come from behind to cancel the two goals by Mathare’s hit man Elvis Rupia in the four-goal thriller.

Rupia gave his team an early lead with only three minutes into the game but his goal however was cancelled by Samuel Olwande who found the back of the net in the 19th minute putting the scores at 1-1 at the break.

Elvis Rupia came back with renewed energy in the second half to put his side in front, his 14th goal of the season.

Clifford Alwanga was at hand to level matters for the ‘Slum Boys’ drilling in in the 59th minute to ensure shared spoils.

Meanwhile, Posta’s win over Thika lifted the mail men to position 10 on the log on 23 points.
