Sony Sugar left it late to defeat Nzoia Sugar 2-0 at the Awendo Green Stadium as they climbed off the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) relegation zone on Wednesday.

Late gasp goals by Stephen Onyango and Enoch Agwanda gave the hosts an unlikely victory as they condemned Nzoia to their third successive defeat.

Nzoia were looking a positive response following back to back defeats to Kariobangi Sharks and Gor Mahia FC and had the perfect opportunity against a Sony side struggling for form and confidence.

But a three-minute blitz saw Onyango find the breakthrough in the 88th minute for the hosts before Agwanda wrapped up the result in stoppage time.

The victory took Sony one place above the relegation danger zone in 15th place with 21 points, three clear of bottom table side Wazito FC.
