Spot-on Prisons lock Rwandas Revenue, cruise to semis

Five-time African champions Kenya Prisons has sailed through to the semi-finals of the ongoing CAVB African Women Club Championship in Cairo, Egypt after thrashing Revenue of Rwanda by straight sets  ( 3-0)in the quarter finals played at Al Ahly Club Hall Monday afternoon.

The David Lunga’ho led side saw off the Rwandans  25-11, 25-17 and 26-24 with the opponents putting a strong performance in the third set which almost sent the match to the fourth set.

Lungaho however made his experience count bringing in Herman Kipyegon in place of tired looking setter Joy Luseneka in the third set.

The veteran coach took no chances with the Rwandese, fielding his strongest line- up ;with  setter Joy Luseneka — who is standing in for the absent Jane Wacu — plus Kwanthanze alumni Emmaculate Chemtai, captain Mercy Moim, former French-based star Everlyne Makuto,  Edith Wisa, Lorine chebet and experienced libero Elizabeth Wanyama, all starting.

Prisons who won bronze at last year’s event will face, in the semis, the winner of the quarterfinal pitting the defending champions Carthage of Tunisia and last year’s runners-up, El Shams of Egypt, who play later in the day.

Meanwhile, should seven-time champions Kenya Pipeline beat  Bafia of Cameroon, they will face the winner between hosts Al Ahly of Egypt and Customs of Nigeria in the semis.
