St. Peters crush Malava Boys in County Games opener

St. Peters School rugby 15s team put up a powerful performance at their own backyard to defeat Malava Boys 34-0 as the Kakamega County School Games kicked off on Wednesday.

James Mukuchi put the hosts in front with an uncovered try before Austin Otema, Emanuel Nyongesa, Marvin Muteshi, Abubakar Amanya and Bramwel Opillo combined to finish off Malava.

St. Peters head coach Livondo Shimenga hailed his charges for the victory that was achieved despite playing on a water logged pitch.

“We have started well and so am hopeful of a win in the remaining matches against Butere and bitter rivals  Kakamega high. Had it not been for the rains we could have won by a bigger margin,” he said.

Day Two of the competition will feature more disciplines including basketball, handball, athletics and rugby.
