Starlets confident of toppling Algeria- Ouma

Harambee Starlets are keen to go past Algeria as the build-up for their second round Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier intensified on Friday at in their Nairobi’s Safaricom Stadium Kasarani residential camp.

Head coach David Ouma is confident the ladies who converged in the camp on Thursday will put a good show in Algiers and complete the double by getting a result in the two-legged clash that starts in Algeria next Friday with the return fixture in Nairobi five days later.

Ouma is however, worried of the sharpness and skills in the team that are not to his expectations but he working to iron out the technical deficiencies of the players in the camp.

“We resumed training this morning with 24 players in camp my concern is the break we had where players lost the momentum,” Ouma remarked referring to the team being forced to break camp when DR Congo pulled out of their first-round clash giving Starlets a bye to the second phase.

He added that it is high time Kenyans developed confidence with the team, acknowledging it has not been fancied as the men’s side believing the spirit in the camp is high and they can topple the fancied North Africans.

The home girls ‘opponents from North Africa eliminated Ethiopia on 2-1 aggregate to advance for this stage.

They leave the country on Wednesday to Algiers for the duel.
