Starlets to face Algeria in Women’s AFCON qualifiers

Harambee Starlets will face Algeria in the second qualifying round of the 10th Africa Women Cup of Nations after the North Africans sealed a 2-1 aggregate victory over Ethiopia on Saturday in Addis Ababa.

Algeria went to the return leg with a 1-0 advantage before holding on for a 1-1 draw to advance and they will face Starlets whom they have never played before.

Loza Aberra gave Ethiopia a 34th minute lead and with the clash heading to extra time, Dalila Zarrouki levelled for the North Africans in 85th to break the host’s hearts.

Starlets sat out the first round of the qualifiers when Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) withdrew and will start their first leg of the second round away on April 8.

The final tournament will be played in Cameroon’s two cities of Yaounde and Limbe from November 19 to December 3.
