Stars captain Wanyama on West Ham radar

West Ham United are plotting a January move for Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama, according to English media reports.

The Hammers are keen to bolster their midfield options and have identified the Kenyan captain as a viable option, according to Football Insider.

Wanyama, 27, moved to North London from Southampton two years ago for KSh1.5 billion and enjoyed a strong first season under Mauricio Pochettino, making 47 appearances.

But a serious knee injury interrupted last term and the big midfielder has struggled to regain his place in the starting line-up ahead of Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and Harry Winks after his return to fitness.

Wanyama has featured five times for Spurs this season and one of his two starts was against Barcelona at Wembley in the Champions League defeat earlier this month.

Manchester United and Italian Serie A out AS Roma are also believed to be keen on the Kenyan captain.

If Spurs do get a considerable offer for Wanyama in January, it would be little surprise to see them cash in and move onto another midfielder or two, especially with Mousa Dembele’s future in doubt.
