Stima deny Mathare after late drama

Mathare United were denied what would have been a morale-boosting win after Junior Mukisa struck in added time to snatch a point for Western Stima in a 1-1 draw at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Daniel Otieno thought he had secured all three points for the Slum Boys when he put the ball in the back of the net with only five minutes to go but the resilient visitors found the reply deep into stoppage time.

The late drama poked another hole into Mathare’s diminishing confidence, leaving them sat on 17th in the FKF Premier League standings after mustering only five points from seven rounds. Stima are one place above and just point better off.

The FKF-PL will resume on Friday with KCB hosting Vihiga United while Tusker FC will be at home against Wazito FC.

Meanwhile, Posta Rangers have parted ways with head coach Sammy Omollo following a string of underwhelming performances this season that have left the side on position 13 on the table.

Posta Rangers have only won once this season drawing seven times and losing thrice. Their performances this season have been disappointing, some coming against otherwise weaker sides.

Omollo took over the coaching role at the club in August 2019 from John Kamau and penned a two-year contract. He was returning to the club after being fired a year earlier

Kenya U23 Head coach and former Harambee Stars head coach Stanley Okumbi is set to take over at the club.
