Stima plunge Gor into darkness as Tusker win

Western Stima delivered an inspired second-half performance to halt Gor Mahia’s  Kenyan Premier League (KPL) charge as Kenneth Muguna endured a 2-1 loss on his return to the club that propagated him onto the limelight.

Gor who had gathered a sizeable momentum courtesy of their two wins in two KPL matches appeared on course to a third straight win when Jacques Tuyisenge lashed the opener from the spot before second half goals from Wesley Kemboi and Kennedy Agogo sealed the fightback.

The 2016 KPL Player of the Year Muguna who had been the pre-match subject following his switch from Stima to Gor was unfortunate not to get one past his former employers as his rasping shot came off the crossbar late on.

Elsewhere, champions Tusker FC rediscovered their golden touch with a 1-0 win over Chemelil Sugar to claim only their first win in 2017 while Sofapaka FC defeated hosts Mathare United 2-1 to register a second successive win.

Sony Sugar were 1-0 winners over Thika United while a third straight loss for Zoo Kericho FC saw them slide to the bottom of the league as Nakumatt FC emerged 2-0 winners at the Kericho Green Stadium.
