Stima pain, Tusker gain as Status Committee makes Okoth ruling

Tusker FC has been awarded 3 points and a 2-0 win over Western Stima after winning a case against the latter for illegally fielding Kevin Okoth Wayodi against them in a league match on December 16.

Tusker lost the match 0-1 and opted to lodge a complaint against Stima at the FKF Player Status Committee for fielding Okoth despite being loaned out by the brewers and despite the agreement between the two clubs barring him from featuring against his parent club.

“According to rule 3.5 (k) of the Rules Governing Kenyan Football (1998) it states, ‘Ineligible Players: A club which fields a suspended or ineligible player will forfeit all matches in which the player was illegally fielded’,”the Committee ruled.

As a result of the ruling, Tusker have leapt to position four on the KPL standings on 25 points, jumping from position seven after 13 matches while Stima drop from fourth to seventh on 20 points from 12 matches

Stima can however appeal the ruling at the FKF’s Appeals Board.

Further to the ruling,  Okoth will not feature until March 11,2019 when Tusker can exercise the option of registering him as their player once the mid-transfer window opens.
