Stoke draw taints positive performance Mourinho

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes his side shouldn’t be too disheartened by a dominate display against Stoke City, but admitted they should be coming away from the match with a better result than the 1-1 draw at home.

After a goalless first half, substitute Anthony Martial made an instant impact, coming off the bench in the 67th minute before slotting United’s opener moments later.

Despite sustained pressure from the hosts, Stoke pulled a goal back with less than 10 minutes remaining as former Liverpool man Joe Allen pounced with goalkeeper David de Gea out of position after failing to contain an earlier opportunity.

Mourinho chose not to criticise his players for failing to take their chances, instead focusing on the positives of their attack-minded approach to the game.

The result sees United in sixth place and level on points with Chelsea while Stoke climb off the bottom of the table into 19th with just their third point from seven games.
