While many sports stakeholders are lamenting the break necessitated by the government’s directive to halt sports owing to the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, Kenya Basketball Federation sides Storms and EMYBA head coach Abel Nson has urged his players to make the most of it by working on their game.

Nson whose women’s team was to face Kenya Ports Authority before the halt was announced says in as much as it is disappointing to have the league stopped, it is a golden opportunity for those who were not match-fit to train harder as they anticipate a resumption.

“Just like everyone else we are disappointed because we had started well and this stop may interfere with the chemistry that had started building up.

“I encourage players that can access private training facilities to work on their game so that they will be in a better shape when we resume.

“There are many elements of the game that even I cannot teach. For instance, making free-throws is a personal thing that players need to work on individually. And this is the opportunity to do it,” he advised.

He has encouraged sports stakeholders to be at the forefront of the vaccine campaign by getting the jab as it is the only hope at the moment that can guarantee the nation an early return to normalcy.

“The vaccination campaign that has kicked off in all parts of the country is the best news we have at the moment because in the midst of all these uncertainties, at least we can hope that things will look up soon.
