Struggling Vihiga to face litmus test in Gor

Vihiga United coach Mike Mururi expects a tough match from Gor Mahia when the two sides trade swords in tomorrow’s league match at the Mumias Sports Complex.

Winning the match will be key for Vihiga who have struggled in their debut season in the top-flight and sit one place from safety in the 18-team table.

On 34 points from 31 matches, Vihiga haven’t had a good return and are acutely aware they must fight for three points from K’Ogalo to safeguard their place in the top-division.

With 16th placed Chemelil Sugar on 32 points, just two adrift of them and 17th placed Wazito FC on 28, Vihiga can still be relegated if they perform dismally and Mururi is rallying his boys to do well.

“All players are in good condition. No one has an injury and therefore their work is put more effort,”he said.

Vihiga heads to this match in the wake of a 1-1 draw against Sony Sugar a week ago and are under pressure to secure a win.

This match will be succeeded by a tie against FKF shield finalist Kariobangi Sharks on September 30 before winding up their campaign with struggling Nakumatt on October 7.
