Suarez won’t ‘bite’ Chiellini in Champions League final meet

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini will not face Barcelona striker Luis Suarez in the Champions League final to be played in Berlin, Germany on Saturday.

The two were headed for the first meeting after the infamous “Suarez bite” at last year’s World Cup in Brazil.

But the meeting is very unlikely now after Chiellini was ruled out of the match with a calf tear.

The 30-year-old Italian centre-back had earlier played down reports of ‘weird situation’ when the two meet saying he would “hug him happily” since he had “no problem at all’ with the Uruguay forward.

During a group match at the World Cup in Brazil, Suarez bit Chiellini on the shoulder, an incident that warranted him a four month ban.

The ban stretched into the start of the La Liga season forcing Suarez, who had just moved to Barcelona from Liverpool to sit out the first eight league matches of the season and the first three group matches in Champions League.

The Champions League final kicks off at 21:45 East Africa Time.
