Swedens Engstrom takes Kenya Ladies Open lead

Swedish Julia Engstrom has taken the lead after day one of Magical Kenya Ladies Open at the Vipingo Ridge PGA golf Course in Kilifi County.

Ranked 308 in the world, the teenager overcame strong winds and a Bogey at the par 4, number 13 to finish on 67 a well deserved 5 under at the 72 par course.

She registered her intent early with a birdie on both number 3 and 4, and four more birdies in the back nine.

“I played pretty good golf, despite the wind after number 4 but I played very decent, I was good around the greens hitting good shots close to the pin and several birdies which were nice,” Engstrom told Citizen Digital.

“It’s golf anything can happen you never know when you are heading to the first tee on what you are going to do but am feeling so good about my game and I hope to start from where I left,” She added

Ranked 542 in the world Liz Young of England finished on 4 under to take the second position ahead of Esther Henseleit of Germany and Astrid Vayson De Pradenne of France tied on 3 under par.

Cheyenne Woods nice to Golfing legend Tiger Woods manage a 2 under par to finish on the fith position.

The best Kenyan placed was amateur Naomu Wafula at T76 following a 6 over par.
