Take us to Wembley, Aguero tells City fans

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has called on the club supporters to turn up in large numbers for Wednesday night’s Capital One Cup semi-final tie against Everton.

City lost their away fixture 2-1 and need to win today’s match by at least 2 clean goals. It is for this reason that Aguero has called on their fans to pack the Etihad and motivate the team to victory.

“First of all, the stadium needs to be packed and the fans need to be behind us every step of the way. With their support, Everton will feel the pressure,” said the striker in a video released by the club’s official website.

During their 4-1 Capital One Cup quarter-finals win over Hull City, only 38,246 fans were in attendance, which meant the 55,000-seater Etihad stadium was little more than two thirds full.

This prompted trolls targetted at Manchester City fans branding the stadium ‘emptyhad’ considering 5,000 of those present were travelling Hull City fans.

“It is very important for us that the crowd supports us from kick off because we need them. It is a great feeling when they are all behind us. It’s a very important night and we have to give it all and with the fan’s support it will be much easier,” continued the striker.

Both teams go into the match having won twice, drawn twice and lost once in their last 5 encounters.

The winner of the encounter will face Liverpool who entered the finals after beating Stoke City 6-5 on penalties on Tuesday night, after Stoke scored in the first half of the match to put the aggregate at 1-1.
