Talanta, Bullets roll out plans for PL stay

Football Kenya Federation Premier League new boys FC Talanta and Vihiga Bullets have wasted no time in laying plans that will help them stage an impressive start to life in the top-tier division.

Bullets whose fairytale end to the season saw them shrug off a poor start to finish second will hold a meeting Tuesday led by outgoing head coach Edward Manoah to plan on their new journey, top of their priority being how can avoid the chop in their debut season.

Assistant coach Milton Kidiga has intimated to Citizen Digital that they intend to keep the core of the team’s playing unit but will be active in the market to rope in players that will enhance their depth.

“At the moment we are in a celebratory mood because our ticket to play in the Premier League is the best thing that has ever happened to our team.

“However, we understand we have little time before next season starts. Therefore we will have a meeting tomorrow to assess our standing and also lay a plan that will help us succeed in the Premier League.”

“We trust in our players but we will recruit experienced players that will sharpen our knack.

Football Club Talanta will also bolster their ranks as they aim to stage a successful debut season as well with head coach Ken Kenyatta hinting that he will reinforce departments he feels they are lacking.

“First of all let me say congratulations to everyone at Talanta for facilitating our promotion.

“Just like in any other club, we will recruit players where we feel we are lacking.”

When asked about previous teams from the National Super League (NSL) that have struggled with the demands of the top-tier league, Kenyatta seemed unfazed, reiterating his confidence in the ability of their plan to sustain them.

“I know there are teams that have struggled and got relegated immediately after promotion. We are Talanta and I am positive we have the resources to challenge the best in the division and it is something that we are looking forward to.”

Both teams will taste premier league football for the first time since their inception.
