Tanzania to host 2019 East Africa Secondary School Games
Tanzania will host next year’s edition of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Associations, (FEASSSA)games, set for August 15-24 in Mwanza.
According to the circular released by the Ministry of Education through Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang, the neighbouring country who missed this year’s edition held in Musanze,Rwanda will now prepare to host the other countries from the region- Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan.
In this year’s games which concluded in Rwanda last month, Kenya clinched the overall title claiming 28 team medals; 10 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze.
Tanzania and South Sudan cited financial constraints due to lack of government support for their withdrawals while Burundi’s participation was curtailed by the country’s sour diplomatic relationship with the host nation.
In the circular dated September 17, 2018 and which Citizen Digital has seen, Mombasa will host the Term One Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Associations (KSSSA) national games from April 5-14.This category features basketball, hockey, rugby 15’s, swimming, handball and athletics.
And for the second year running, Kisumu City will host the KSSSA National Term 2 Games scheduled for July 26- August 4. This edition will feature rugby 7’s, netball, football U-16 & U-19, volleyball, and racquet games, cross c ountry, heptathlon and decathlon.
The games shall be staged at Kisumu Boys and Kisumu Girls
