Tanzania tour a morale boost ahead of Horoya clash, says Mwalala

Bandari coach Bernard Mwalala has termed the experience gained during their Tanzania tour as a key motivator ahead of their continental assignment against Horoya AC of Guinea.

The Dockers recorded mixed results but Mwalala is rest assured the experience gained is far more important than the results they achieved.

“We went to Tanzania for experience and I’m glad we have gained a lot from the two friendlies as we are ready for Horoya,” said Mwalala.

The Mombasa based side lost by a goal to nil against Tanzanian power house Simba SC before winning by the same margin in their second match against Coastal Union.

At the same time Mwalala got the chance to test his new acquisition expounding that he was satisfied by them and he’s ready to deploy them ahead of their different assignments.

“I am happy with my new signings; with the quality showcased they have proved they are ready to help us,” he explained.

Bandari only missed the services of their sensational winger Abdallah Hassan who was an unused substitute during Harambee Stars 0-1 loss to Mozambique in an international friendly at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani at the weekend.

Bandari will entertain Chemelil Sugar at their Mbaraki backyard during this weekend before jetting out to face Horoya in the Confederations Cup first leg tie in Conakry on October 27 before the second leg a week later in Nairobi on November 3.

Enroute to meeting the Guineans, the coastal based outfit dispatched Al Ahly Shandy of Sudan in the first round before thrashing Tunisia’s US Ben Guerdane in the second round to book a date with the Guinean giants Horoya AC. This will be the third and last round of the preliminaries with the aggregate winner sealing a slot in the money minting group stage.

For the Dockers, attaining such a goal will be a remarkable feat in their history.

Their local rivals Gor Mahia will begin their assignment at home against DC Motema Pembe of DRC as they target their last season record in the continental games- where they reached the quarter finals.
