Tanzanian giants Yanga sack ex-Leopards coach Eymael over racial slur
Tanzanian league giants Yanga SC today sacked their head coach Luc Eymael over alleged racist remarks he made on social media.
It is alleged that Eymael, who coached Leopards in 2013, termed Tanzanians as ‘uneducated people’ while referring to the club fans as ignorant people who ‘don’t know anything about football’.
In a strongly worded statement explaining his sacking, club secretary Simon Patrick said they are disappointed by the racist remarks attributed to the Belgian, while also apologising to the Tanzanian leadership, the club fans and the country’s football federation.
Eymael has subsequently been ordered to leave Tanzania immediately.
The Tanzanian league concluded last weekend with Yanga finishing second on 72 points, 16 behind champions Simba SC.
