Team work the catalyst for our league success: Alumira

Vihiga Queens head coach Alex Alumira has attributed their success to team work. This was after they were crowned the Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League champions for the third time in a row, their latest heroics being confirmed last Saturday.

Alumira added that their success was also augmented by the efforts of other stakeholders such as management, sponsors, and the technical bench.

Queens bagged the gong on 67 points, piping closest challengers Gaspo Youth who also claimed the same number of points but with an inferior goal difference, the champions last match being a 7-0 rout of hapless Makolanders at the Mumias Sports Complex at the weekend.

The five-year-old team had a great season performance winning 22 times, losing once and drawing once too.

“There is nothing unique that we have done; everyone knew what we wanted to do so that we can get good results,’’ said Alumira.

“In terms of next season we are going to sit do and strategise on what we want, it might not be the league or the title. We will still fight for good results but first we all have to sit and agree on the main purpose,’’Alumira added.

According to Alumira, challenges were aplenty too singling out financial instability and bad weather which affected their training sessions greatly.

Gaspo Youth finished second while Transzoia Falcons came in third with 61 points.
