Tedious Simbas outfoxed in Hong Kong
The Kenya 15’s rugby national team failed to register a win in the just concluded Regal Four Nations Cup, after falling 40-30 to hosts Hong Kong on Saturday afternoon, in their final game in the competition.
The defeat was their third in the competition, where they were wobbly and erratic in equal measure.
Prior to the Saturday roasting, the Simbas had fallen to Russia and Chile. Russia would later on clinch the ultimate prize after brushing off Chile.
Jerome Paarwater charges went to this game hoping to register a win at the expense of the hosts Hong Kong but from the look of things the hosts had other ideas.
Kenya were trailing 22-6 when KCB’s Peter Karia was stretchered off for a concussion test prompting Philip Ikambili to come in .Ikambili’s presence was felt after he scored Simbas first try, with vice -captain Darwin Mukidza booting the extras for a 22-13 in favour of Hong Kong.
Kenya had an impressive second half where Samson Onsomu,Oliver Mangeni and the legendary Vincent Mose- went over the whitewash.
Sensational Darwin Mukidza added all the extras as Kenya looked to record a first win but the hosts held on for a 40-30 win.
The Simbas jet back next week to continue their preparations for the upcoming Japan 2019 World Cup qualifiers.
Head coach Paarwater will be looking to rectify his boys defence and composure with the ball.
