Telkom earn free points as JKUAT fail to show up for league match
Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) women Premier League defending champions Telkom turned the City Park to a training venue after their opponents Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) failed to honour the Sunday fixture.
The champions were due to play their second match of the season Sunday from 1pm, after being held to a barren draw in their opening match of the season but the no-show by JKUAT saw them earn a walk-over; three points and five goals after JKUAT failed to show up.
Telkom coach Judy Apioh said: “We wanted to play but to our surprise our opponents did not show up. We were not interested with a walk-over but we leave it to KHU to make further decisions should they see it necessary,” she said
JKUAT lost their opening match 9-0 to Strathmore University while Telkom were held to a barren draw by Amira Sailors.
