Thika United’s Meja signs for Tusker FC

Left back Sammy Meja has joined Tusker FC from Thika United, becoming the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) club’s fifth signing ahead of the new season.

Meja, who has been with Thika for six seasons before they were relegated from the KPL this year, signed a three-year deal with head coach Robert Matano terming him a ‘good player’.

“He is a good player and that’s why I signed him,” said Matano on Meja who has also featured for the Kenya U-20 in the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) tournament.

The 22-year-old’s progression has been blighted by injuries especially last season and is hoping to reignite his career back at Tusker.

“I have played with some players in the team and I know everyone here want to win and I have the same ambition as them. Hopefully we can push each other to achieve that,” Meja was quoted by Tusker FC.

Other players that have joined Tusker include Michael Madoya, midfielder Clyde Senaji, defender Hillary Wandera and forward Muzerwa Amini.

The new KPL season will kick off on the December 8 with the Brewers opening their campaign away at Sony Sugar.
