Former Harambee stars head coach Jacob Mulee, who led the team to the 2004 African cup of Nations deems that Kenya has not had such a well-built squad in the recent past.

Mulee trusts the team -set for 2019 AFCON this June in Egypt, selected by the Head Coach Sebastian Migne is fully equipped both defensively and offensively and is capable of bringing forth good results in the preceding matches.

“We have the players that we need in the national team and I believe they will deliver greatly, for example we have solid defenders and pretty good Midfielders not forgetting the Offensive team led by the likes of Olunga,” Noted Mulee.

This comes weeks after a number of football fans criticized Migne’s choice of dropping some ‘key’ players including Jesse Were and Allan Wanga. Wanga finished second in the Kenyan Premier League(KPL) golden boot race with 18 goals.

Mulee, speaking on Citizen TV on Friday, noted that it is quite an intricate thing to select players for the national team because you have to choose just a few from a big pool of players who have probably done the best in the season.

However, Mulee urged the players who were axed out to never give up because it is not the end.

Mulee said that they can still get call-up to represent Kenya in the coming competitions citing that these are things that happen in football and they are not the first to suffer.

“I know most of the players have been looking up to playing in the African cup of nations, but not everyone will make it to the final squad. Regardless of the age no one should give up. Who knows maybe you might earn a call-up to represent your nation in big competitions in future?”

On the other hand, Mulee showed interest of making a comeback to the KPL as a coach saying that he was born a coach and will always be.

Harambee stars is set to play against Madagascar tonight on the first friendly match ahead of the African cup up nations match scheduled to begin 21st June.

Kenya will play her first 2019 AFCON Match against Algeria on 23rd.
