Three Gor Mahia fans were on Sunday afternoon killed in a grisly road accident involving a nissan and a mini-bus in Mlolongo area along Nairobi-Mombasa Road.
The Gor fans were travelling to the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos for their team’s league match against Thika United.
According to an eye-witness Robert Maina, the Gor fans were hanging precariously atop the bus when the accident occurred.
He said: “Nilikuwa nimeegesha gari hapa kando ya barabara hapa Mlongongo( I had parked my vehicle on the roadside here in Mlolongo). There was a nissan on the opposite end and Gor fans were coming through the highway, some of them were a top of the bus. The Nissan hit the side of the bus… and two fell on the road dying on the spot. Right now there are four bodies on the road. There is a traffic- grid lock and police are already here.”
Gor’s deputy secretary general Ronald Ngala expressed shock. “I can’t comment right now until I get finer details of what has transpired.”
Ben Agunda, an ardent Gor Mahia fan who is at the scene told Citizen Digital that they are coordinating efforts to move the bodies to the mortuary.
“We are here already. I have counted three bodies which are still lying here.We have got a car to move the bodies to the mortuary but we are still short of Sh 4,000.Please help us spread the word, for we need everyone’s support right now.”
