Three teams through to Koth Biro quarter-finals

A 1000 Street beat Young Rovers 5-4 on penalties to hand them a slot in the quarter-finals of the 2015 Annual Koth Biro football tournament.

After a stalemate during normal time, the two teams went into penalties with Young Rovers’ Kennedy Otieno missing his penalty kick to end their chances of proceeding in the tournament.

Sam Olwande, Joseph Majani, Roy Syamba, Kennedy Otieno, Eric Mata scored for the defending champions A 1000, while Jandi Kevin, Lennox Ogutu, David Odhiambo, Ayiaga Nicholas scored for Yong Rovers.

In another match, Mamba FC also advanced to the quarter-finals after beating Flats Tornadoes 1-0, courtesy of Elias Otieno’s penalty kick in the 60th minute.

In the last match of the day, a resilient Umeme Bees lost to Puiretto in post-match penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Puiretto were the first to score through Victor Ayugi’s screamer from 20 yards in the 16th minute catching the Bees defense and goalkeeper unaware.

The Bees picked up the pace and piled pressure on their opponents with brilliant moves that wowed the thousands of fans in attendance.

The pressure paid off when Bees midfielder Misiko was brought down in the penalty area with Evans Mieno converting the resultant penalty in the 54th minute to put the score at 1-1.

Edwin Otieno and Evans Mieno scored for Umeme Bees while Solomon Masika and Melvin Macharia missed their chances.

Juma Andrew, Masinde Kelvin, Tyson Odhiambo and Brian Chege scored for Piuretto.
