Tokyo Olympics: Bakkali ends Kenyas dominance in 3000m steeplechase

Kenya’s dominance in the men’s 3000m steeplechase at the Olympics Games came to a painful ending as Morocco’s Soufiane El Bakkali broke Kenyan hearts at the Tokyo Olympics.
In he finals held on Monday, Bakkali, the World bronze medallist took the gold away from Kenyans when he clocked 8:08.90
World silver medallist Lamecha Girma of Ethiopia took silver in 8:10.38
African Games Champion Benjamin Kigen placed third in 8:11.45 to bag a bronze medal, the first Kenyan medal at the Games.
Abraham Kibiwott was 10th in 8:19.41
