Tokyo Olympics: Sprinter Omanyala keeps medal prospects alive

Kenyan sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala kept alive his hopes of bagging a maiden medal at the Olympics when he qualified for 100m semi final race at Tokyo Olympics after clocking a national record of 10.01 seconds.

Omanyala is Kenya’s fastest man and he put his best foot forward on Saturday at the Tokyo Stadium.

However his compatriot and fellow sprinter Mark Otieno was withdrawal from the competition after earlier on testing positive for a banned substance Saturday.

Kenya has had a disastrous performance at the Games and are yet to bag a medal.

In the last edition held in Rio de Janeiro Brazil Kenya claimed 13 medals.
