Tom Juma says AFC Leopards are improving

The Football Operations Manager for AFC Leopards, Tom Juma, says the club is making steady progress and will finish the season in a respectable Kenyan Premier League position.

Leopards currently occupy the promotion playoff spot and have spent two gameweeks sitting rock bottom of the KPL standings but Juma is adamant relegation fears are far-fetched.

After winning back to back matches against Sony Sugar and Tusker FC, Leopards were pegged back as they went down 1-0 to Sofapaka FC in their latest league clash.

“It was just a small hitch but we are going to bounce back and up our momentum as we face Western Stima,” he said.

The fallen Kenyan football giants under the tutelage of Rwandese tactician Casa Mbungo are currently in position 15 in the 18 teams standings with 4 wins, 4 draws and 9 losses.

Juma has hailed the new signing David ‘Cheche’ Ochieng for quickly fitting into the squad well and has optimism the former Tusker FC defender will be vital in Ingwe’s quest for a better show in the second leg .

“He is doing good in training and has already played two matches against Sofapaka and Kitale Transfoc (in the FKL Shield).

“After being inactive for a long period, he has shown that he can be of much help to us. Signs of improvement are evident ,” he added.

Leopards recently signed the former IF Brommapojkarna of Sweden in a short term contract after he left his former club which was relegated from the top tier league in December last year.

The team is also in the plans of signing at least a striker to strengthen the front line which has only managed only 13 goals in seventeen matches.

Ingwe’s next fixture will be away to Vihiga United and then face the bogey side Chemelil Sugar in a second leg round.
