Too good to let go, Vihiga rehires coach Manoah

Edward Manoah has bounced back at the helm of Vihiga United FC as its head coach after barely a month away.

Manoah led the Western Kenya based side in securing a spot in the 2018 Kenyan Premier League after they were crowned winners of the 2017 National Super League campaign.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, club secretary general Wycliffe Luvavo said that the decision was made yesterday(Sunday).

Manoah’s reappointment comes barely four weeks after resigning, citing lack of interest from the county government in extending his contract.

“I can officially confirm that we had 13 applicants for the coaching role; seven international coaches and six local.  We settled on Edward Manoah because of his experience, He has been with the players for the longest time. Having interacted and understood the team well we saw the need to retain him,” Luvavo said

Among the local applicants was long time serving tactician James Nandwa and Mike Muiruri, head coach of  Homeboys FC.

The job also attracted various foreign coaches like Joel Da silva of Portugal, Jean Cleathing of France, among others.

At the same time, the club has upped interest in Mururi, whom they want to beef up their technical bench.

“We are working hard to ensure that we are recruiting Mike Muiruri to our technical team so that we kick off the season with an established squad. Hopefully, by Wednesday, we shall have more information concerning him,” Luvavo added.
