Trouble at Gor ahead of CECAFA Clubs Cup

Gor Mahia FC first vice-chair John Dache Pesa has warned the playing unit they risk having their contracts with the club terminated if they abscond training.

Speculation is rife that the K’Ogalo stars have vowed to skip training until their salary arrears are paid in full with reports indicating some walked out of camp in Kisumu last evening.

Pesa, who is the interim boss in the absence of Chairman Ambrose Rachier who is in Russia for the FIFA World Cup, has stated that part of the KSh27 million they were entitled to by CAF after qualifying for the Confederations Cup group stages has yet to be paid to them.

‘’We have told the players to get back to camp today,” the former Member of Parliament said.

The news comes on the back on the team’s preparation for the CECAFA Clubs Championship in Tanzania and days after the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants lost its star striker Meddie Kagere to Simba SC.

Pesa claimed the board is aware that an executive member is inciting players and promised the matter will be dealt with.

Gor Mahia pitched camp in Kisumu since Tuesday when they demolished Posta Rangers 5-0 to go 12 points clear at the summit of the KPL are due to play Sony Sugar tomorrow before departing for the CECAFA tournament.

Sources intimate to Citizen Digital have revealed that the highest paid player in Gor earns KSh200,000 with the least pocketing KSh60,000.
