Troubled Leopards hold crisis meeting

The AFC Leopards executive held a crisis meeting last night to find a solution to the financial crunch that is threatening to bring the Kenyan Premier League club on its knees.

Leopards players are unpaid in three and a half months and this week refused to train in protest, forcing the club’s chairman Dan Shikanda into action.

Shikanda rallied the branch chairmen and fans to throw their full support to the club as they try to negotiate with several corporate companies for sponsorship.

Despite the go-slow, Leopards have arrived in Mumias after a night travel ahead of tomorrow’s clash against Nzoia Sugar FC tomorrow at the Sports Complex

“The team left last evening and they are already in Mumias for that match, let’s see how it will be ,the team has not trained the entire week,” Shikanda said.

Recently, midfield maestro the Burundian Tresor Ndikumana and Vincent Habamahoro from Rwanda tabled their demands to be given release letters to part way with the club due to lack of salaries.

Chairman Shikanda has termed the situation in the club as sorry and one that needs urgent remedy or well wishers to help them in the day today running of the club as far as financial issues are concerned .

It even makes it more difficult for the team while playing their home matches in Machakos with a low turn out from fans costing the club financially instead of helping ease the problem.

Shikanda has however exuded confidence that they will land a sponsor possibly before the end of this year something that will be of a big relief to the officials.

Just this month ,Leopards coach told citizen digital that things are not okay and that money is the key to everything ,an indication that he is not an exception to the problems that the playing unit is undergoing .
